This is a wonderful mattress. It took several days after unrolling it for it to achieve the eventual softness we expected. My son sleeps so much better since we purchased this.
It can be a very difficult choice when buying a new mattress, since there are so many different options, such as: Spring, Foam, Futon, and now Memory Foam.
I recently bought a futon only to find it quite uncomfortable, and I had bad back aches because of it. In fact, some mornings I didn’t even want to get up (not because I was tired, but because my back hurt so much!) So I decided that I should get a firm spring mattress, since they’re tried and tested. But then I read up on them, and found that in fact, spring may not actually be as good as once was believed to be. With spring mattresses, your body actually is forced to adapt to it. You might find one mattress comfortable, while another spring one might hurt your back. And for the prices that these mattress companies were charging, I started to consider memory foam mattresses. I had seen many ads regarding these mattresses in the past, but I always figured that it was just a new gimmick and a passing fad. Then I figured I might as well do some more research on them, until I was faced with a new dilemma: Which company should I get one from?
On one hand I was told that Tempur Pedic, and a few other big name companies had the best ones, and not to even think about the other smaller companies (that apparently use poor quality materials in the production of the mattress, under the reasoning that “They aren’t made in the USA”. Yeah… because clearly only the USA can make quality products). Moreover, I also read that there was no point paying upwards of 1400$ just to buy a memory foam mattress, when I could buy one for a small fraction of the price, for essentially the same product, minus the name brand.
I finally figured I’d just risk it and buy this Twin 5″ memory foam mattress from sleepShop.
I am glad I did. This mattress arrived promptly, vacuum packed and well protected. I unfolded it and let it expand for about 2 hours. When I finally laid down for the night, I have to admit that all the hype was 100% true.
My vision actually blurred for a moment as I lay down. It was THAT comfortable! The memory foam did contour very well with my back, and it honestly felt like I was sleeping on air. I have read complaints people have about the foam being too warm. I did not have that problem at all. Every morning I wake up, I feel well rested, and have no back problems whatsoever.
Now I can’t say that every single company will provide you with this good a mattress. I’m sure that there are companies that will use cheap material, making the bed uncomfortable etc. However, SleepShop’s mattress has performed exceptionally well, and there is no reason at all to spend an exorbitant amount of money for some “Leading brand” mattress like Tempur Pedics.
In conclusion, if you are buying a new mattress, and are considering memory foam (Thank you NASA
), definitely go for this one. Many companies sell 3-4″ of memory foam, but SleepShop has a nice 5″ one for a very good price.
Bot for daughter who is very pleased. This replaced a very good pillowtop and she says it is an improvement. No complaints. No odor. Good pricing.
I’m sure there are people who would be suited to this mattress. I am not one of them. Because the pad on top is five inches thick, you sink into it a good distance. This in turn leads to substantial lower back pain over a period of hours.
One night was quite enough for me. I am going to throw it away. You might wonder: Why throw it away? SleepShop offers a money-back guarantee. True, they do, but they require a receipt, and they did not trouble to include a receipt when they sent it to me. Therefore, I can’t return it.
So in essence I paid $379 for the worst night’s sleep I have had in many years. I encourage other people to learn from my experience and save their money.
My wife was 5 months pregnant and starting to get a little uncomfortable while sleeping. A friend of mine bought one for his wife while she was pregnant and really made a difference for her (and him.) We got the pad and my wife immediately began to sleep better, and continued to do so for the rest of the pregnancy.
As good as it was to begin with, after my wife came home it was almost too good. Having little strength, it was a little too hard to push out of the foam and was also difficult to nurse, so since then the pad has been been in the basement, occassionally being thrown on the floor as an extra mattress when we have guests. If I had to make the purchase over again, I would go for the 2″ rather than the 3″, but I’m giving four stars because it did do the job for which it was purchased for.
I have a very stiff mattress. This foam pad worked really well with my stiff mattress. The only problem I have with it is that the foam moves around and I need to realign it with my bed every other day and my bed sheets always end up wrapping itself around the pad itself.
I do recommend this pad to anyone looking for a pad to soften their mattress. It was money well spent
You spend more time sleeping than any other single activities in life. So I say it is important you get the quality you deserve from it.
I am an athlete, so I do a lot of deadlifts, power cleans, and exercises that put a lot of stress on my body, especially the lower back. These foams are great. When you lie down, it completely molds your body, so there is not so much rigidness and tension working against your body, which make you feel sore and unrested waking up in the morning. And let’s all be honest, these are much price friendly than tempurpedic. They are also great if you have over night guests. Rather than putting people on the couch, put these on the floor. They make a great bed just themselves.
I think we own the worst mattress ever produced but this makes it feel like a top of the line mattress! I definitely recommend it to everyone! The two contour pillows are very nice too! Now we can’t sleep without it on our bed! And my pregnant wife was having hip issues and couldn’t sleep without this thing. It was a life saver!
good price on a combo deal. mattress pads are great, pillows are below par for a final rating of good.
This mattress has definitely improved the pain in my upper back and neck. But it is difficult to sit on it as it sinks it too much. And also very difficult to change positions if you do that while sleeping.
But a great bonus for us was the nice big box it was sent in. The box packaging the foam was covered by another huge box. It is quite sturdy and we are now using it as a convenient table for keeping stuff/eating. It is rigid and spacious. In retrospect, this box is coming in more handy than the foam mattress itself so we are very happy. Highly recommended !
College daughters loved this for on top of the standard dorm mattress. Very comfortable and good value for the price. Highly recommend using it with an extra padded mattress pad.
