How do you clean a memory foam mattress pad?
We have a 3" memory foam mattress pad and our new puppy tinkled on it! it smells. I tried to 3 memory foam mattress pad spot clean it, but it absorbed alot.... Its kinda really gross... we have been sleeping on the couch until its cleaned.... Any suggestions? also, we live in an apartment building on the 3rd floor.... its really windy here and hanging things on our balcony isnt an option....

This is cooler to sleep on than the unventilated ones but I can’t keep the sheets from wrinkling under our bodies. That is my only concern.

I purchased this mattress topper about a month ago. The price of $189.00 with no shipping/tax from Amozon was great. I received the mattress within five days. It came in a 2X3 box…it was wrapped in plastic and condensed. When I opened it, there was alittle smell. I unfolded the mattress and placed it in another bedroom to air-out and finish expanding to the full king size. It took about 4 to 5 hrs to expand and for the smell to go away.
Overall, I am very happy with the foam mattress. I thought I may get hot during the night sinse your body is surounded alittle by the foam, but I wasn’t hot or uncomfortable at all. Also, at first I thought it was alittle firm, But after an hour or so it was very comfortable. It wasn’t as hard as my very firm mattress.
I thought the mattress came with a cover. But it didn’t. It’s just a 3″ thick foam mattress. Make sure your fitted sheets are the deep ones, so you can place the foam on top of your mattress and then place the fitted sheet over both.
I would recommend this foam mattress. Enjoy, I am!!!
I bought this mattress pad a few weeks ago and am only giving it 4 stars instead of 5 stars because of the “newness” smell that others have written about. I let the mattress pad air outside for about 12 hours before putting it on the bed, but it still has the new smell (a few weeks later). It’s not so bad that it’s a hindrance, it’s just obvious if you really try to smell it (I’m sure some Febreze would likely take care of the odor). The mattress pad itself is really comfortable. I feel like I have a brand new mattress and am sleeping really comfortably. This was a really good purchase. Caution however….when the foam pad is shipped, it’s rolled very tightly then shrinkwrapped in plastic. The outside edges get kind of mashed together and hard. When I first opened it, I thought it was going to stay really mashed and hard and I’d have to return it, but after airing it out for several hours, the foam found it’s softness and natural shape. Before putting it on the bed, let it expand to it’s natural shape for a day or so (and try to do something about the odor). Just don’t expect to take it out of the box and put it on the bed straight away.
I purchased this product for my mother who suffers with severe back pains. She has used this for a little over a month now and absolutely loves it. She is sleeping through the night and wakes up with almost no back pains.
I purchased this product (2 mattress toppers) for Christmas. It arrived 10 days before scheduled which was much appreciated. I’ve had this foam mattress for two years, the odor didn’t last once it was aired out in another room for a few days. The mattress is too short by about an inch or two, a queen won’t fit the regular queen mattress, so I purchased a king for my queen. No surprise! The king was too short for the queen! This foam topper will follow the contours of the existing mattress, any depression in the original mattress will show up under the topper. If you have an old mattress, bite the bullet and buy a good mattress.
I purchased the Sleep Better memory foam topper after reading tons of reviews on a variety of brands. I added the topper to my brand new mattress set because I was starved for the best rest possible. Wow! After years of restless nights, I now enjoy turning in at night knowing that I can expect to sleep peacefully and comfortably.
I liked this at first but now after a year of use it is getting really painful to sleep on my bed. I did some research and realized that this foam is 2.5lbs/square foot which is not enough support for even pixies like me. you need at least 4-5lb density foam, this is half of what i should have got. I am only 110 lbs, my bf is 150, and there are uncomfortable indentions in the foam now that dont spring back
We have had a regular mattress for quite some time now. I had heard that these mattress toppers were good in previous reviews. I decided to try the 2 inch based on a review that said the 3 inch was just too much. The topper arrived in a few days after purchase in a much smaller box than I anticipated, but once we took it out it expanded to what I was expecting. There is a bit of a smell with it, but that goes away after a few days. I have some newer sheets that have that deep pocket and with the topper, the sheets actually fit the bed much better now. I really enjoy the topper and sleep much better now. I was afraid we might get hot, but that is not the case. My husband has issues sleeping due to back pain and he has noticed a considerable decrease in pain and is also sleeping better. I would recommend this item for anyone that uses just a regular mattress. It was well worth the money.
LOVE IT! Got a very firm mattress that was making my shoulders and hips hurt, this pad COMPLETELY fixed the problem. It is smaller than the bed but I hardly notice, I think it has spread out with time. The smell took about 2 weeks to completely go away.
This works well for where it hits the body, but it is way too short, stops at the knees, it is not as long as a twin bed. It was also difficult to unroll after it was delivered, it sticks to itself so had pull it apart and get it to lay flat.
I bought this product for my daughter’s twin bed because she was always saying that she loved laying on my bed. now she likes her bed even more than mine! that’s exactly what i wanted. i am more than pleased. she says it is like ’sleeping on a cloud.’
i have this actually 2x of these on my bed…i love it but i think i will buy 2 more. they are only $55 at any walmart and you don’t have to pay shipping. 2 make it comfy and 2 more should make it perfect. the 1 1/2 are the only ones that are true memory foam. watch for larger and more expensive ones that are a blend.
I sleep with a Nova memory foam mattress topper (bought from Costco in Canada) and found it very good. This summer I sublet an apartment for a couple of months and ordered a Serta 3-pound memory foam (supposedly a memory form) mattress topper. It was already on the bed when I arrived at the apartment. I immediately felt that it was not actually memory foam. Then I looked at the actual topper and found that it was just foam, which is quite different from memory foam. I definitely would not recommend this particular brand. In my opinion, the label “memory foam” was a false label.
Wow. I bought this to use on top of one of those cotton futons. The futon is hard and dense and pretty uncomfortable. But with this thing on top? It’s just fabulous. The first time I slept on it I didn’t move all night. It’s great. I like it so much I bought a second one as a gift. The only problem is that it smells sort of strange for the first week.
Feels like my bf’s $1000 bed. But it comes with a chemical smell and it is strong. The smell seems to be fating after 2 weeks of opening it. But it is still there. Be prepare to have a long period of time of waiting before actually putting it to your bed.
Also, about the size. I thought it is too short for a twin as well. But my bf told me my dorm bed is an extra long twin. So that might be the reason for the complain of length.
I got one of these things used from my mom, so I didn’t get a chance to smell the VOC’s when it was new. Then I moved cross country and left my foam topper on the other side of the US (Pacific Coast). I just bought one from another retailer (C*stc0) and it smelled to Formaldehyde.
I remember Formaldehyde was used in the older formulations of paint I made at work. The Formaldehyde is used as a Fungicide or Biocide to deter bio-contamination. So let it air out (or ‘off-gas’ as we say in chemistry) outside before you use it.
I bought it because it was so great to sleep on and my back missed it sooo much. It made my bed very comfortable, so it was hard form me to kick people off the bed when I wanted to sleep! So I had to give it 4 stars instead of 5 stars.
Now that I’m on the East Coast my back was killing me and I went to purchase the foam topper. I missed it soo much that I don’t mind the Formaldehyde smell… after I let it air out.
